The ¥65.76 million figure for households in their 50s greatly lifts the citywide average

Households headed by people aged 50–59 average ¥65.755 million, those aged 60–69 ¥40.329 million, and those aged 70–79 ¥28.356 million. The figures decline as age rises, which runs counter to a conventional asset-accumulation curve.

Even though the all-age average of ¥38.877 million is the highest among the six cities, it does not mean that a typical Chiba City household holds around ¥39 million. Mean financial assets are highly sensitive to households with very large holdings and to small sample sizes.

Makuhari and Tokyo-commuting households are background factors, not proof of the outlier

Reading the regional background

Corporate and administrative functions in Makuhari New City, Tokyo-commuting households along the Sobu and Keiyo lines, and manufacturing and infrastructure jobs in the Keiyo coastal industrial area provide a background for middle- and high-income households living in Chiba City.
