Households with two or more members in Saitama City hold an average of about ¥20.09 million in financial assets. Households in their 60s are high at about ¥35.92 million, but those in their 70s fall to about ¥13.57 million. Because the figures do not rise steadily with age, we separate the household background of Urawa and Omiya from age-specific sample variation.
Financial assets in Saitama City by age (2019, households with 2+ members)
| Age of household head | Financial assets (¥1,000) | Approximate value |
|---|---|---|
| Average, all ages | 20,089 | About ¥20.09 million |
| 40–49 | 7,727 | About ¥7.73 million |
| 50–59 | 25,812 | About ¥25.81 million |
| 60–69 | 35,917 | About ¥35.92 million |
| 70–79 | 13,568 | About ¥13.57 million |
Figures for household heads under 30 and ages 30–39 are not published because of insufficient sample size.
From ¥7.73 million in the 40s to ¥35.92 million in the 60s, then down again in the 70s
Households headed by people aged 40–49 average ¥7.727 million, those aged 50–59 ¥25.812 million, and those aged 60–69 ¥35.917 million. The figure rises sharply from the 40s through the 60s, but then falls to ¥13.568 million among households aged 70–79.
This irregularity is a reminder that each age group is not the same cohort being followed over time. The overall average of ¥20.089 million cannot be used directly as an age-specific savings target.
High-income households in Urawa coexist with families in the home-buying stage
Urawa and Minami wards include managers and professionals at large companies who work in Tokyo, while Omiya Ward includes households working around a major commercial, administrative, and transport hub. Stable household income and housing costs that can be lower than in Tokyo may provide a background for long-term asset accumulation.
At the same time, Saitama City attracts many child-rearing families, and some households in their 40s may see financial assets held down by home purchases and education expenses. These factors alone, however, cannot explain the high figure in the 60s or the decline in the 70s. Age-specific municipal data must always be read with room for sample variation.
How to read these figures
These asset statistics are averages and do not directly show medians or the distribution of assets. They cover households with two or more members, and real estate assets outside financial assets may not be included.
The article is organized primarily around figures from published statistics. Numerical values directly observable in the statistical tables should be distinguished from interpretations of background factors.
Summary: Saitama City's 60s figure is high, but the asset curve is not smooth
Saitama City averages about ¥20.09 million, with about ¥35.92 million among households in their 60s, but the decline in the 70s means the figures cannot be used as a general model of steady asset accumulation. Urawa and Omiya's high-income structure is background context; the age-specific values remain results that may be affected by sample variation.
